Parker hydraulic motors: the driving force

If you work in the maritime or offshore sector, you’ll come across Parker hydraulic motors sooner or later. And that’s no coincidence. These motors convert hydraulic energy into mechanical power, forming the heart of countless technical systems, from winches and boom rotations to drilling installations and heavy mobile equipment.

At DTA, we regularly work with these motors, both in maintenance and in new installations. In this blog, we explain what makes Parker hydraulic motors so reliable, and why they’re a mainstay in the projects we support.

What does a hydraulic motor actually do?

A hydraulic motor converts the pressure of hydraulic fluid into rotary motion. Put simply: where a hydraulic pump generates energy, the motor makes sure that energy actually puts something into motion. Think of turning a winch, driving a drill head, or moving heavy components on a platform.

Why Parker

Parker offers a wide range of hydraulic motors, each developed for a specific application. A few variants you’ll regularly come across in our projects:

Bent axis motors are compact, powerful and suitable for both open and closed circuits. You’ll often find them in mobile applications such as cranes and concrete mixer trucks.

Gerotor motors stand out for their compact build and high starting torque at low speeds. Ideal for applications where space is limited but performance can’t be compromised.

Vane motors offer a long service life, even under high pressure and heavy, continuous loads. Exactly what you need in an environment where downtime isn’t an option.

Radial piston motors deliver high torque at low speeds and are therefore popular with heavy equipment such as drilling installations and mining machinery.

What these motors have in common: high efficiency, wear compensation and a long service life, even under demanding operational conditions.
